After our Infor Syteline review we know Infor has a great story to tell. They have rationalized their product offering and are extending the technology underpinning each of their go-to market products in manufacturing and distribution verticals (Baan, M3, Syteline, and SXe). Their multiple acquisition model enables Infor to offer a complete ERP solution.
In a recent demonstration with Infor Syteline at a client that is a complex manufacturer, we saw everything Infor has to offer.
The PLM module is completely integrated with the ability to take drawings and BOM’s from CAD software (e.g., Solid Works) to Infor’s PLM, and then into the ERP Syteline. An engineer can stay in Solid Works and respond to workflows, or they could reside in the PLM module and markup drawings. Each engineer has the ability to work the way they want to work, either from inside the PLM module, or from inside the CAD software. PLM manages the workflow and keeps the systems (CAD and ERP) in sync.
The configuration tool is everything that you would expect. The ability to create a smart part, view the drawing, create workflows for engineering, and notify when you are close to a standard (do not need a custom). Additionally we saw how the configuration tool can be used in ecommerce, complete with ties into Google Analytics.
Syteline’s “Smart Client” can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Furthermore the inside customer service person is offered the traditional screen with customer header and order lines, and can exit out to a complete grid view, which is great for higher volume order entry.
Comprehensive BI Functionality
We saw both slice and dice from within Syteline and full business intelligence software called Enterprise Performance Management (EPM).
This BI tool offers a predefined set of cubes and metrics available to view “out of the box” and is by role. Many vendors offer cubes today, but require the “user” to develop the view. The Infor BI tool offers the views “out of the box.”
In August, the new release of Syteline offers even more in UI and end user technology and ease of use.
