Ultra continues to review products with our clients performing ERP selection projects. During our review of Infor’s SX product we learned how Infor is taking all of its products to the next level with new technology that has a planned rollout that begins in March 2012.
Infor SX Highlights
- The “Mash Up” technology, acquired with Lawson, provides a “home page” for all users, which is a web client integrated with BI, ERP, and any other application or web site.
- The entire application is being revamped with a new web-like look and feel, not affecting underlying logic, offering on screen drill down (without changing screens).
- Also, in 2012 Infor is changing its CRM relationship from Microsoft Dynamics to Salesforce.com.
Infor SX offers all the basics for finance and accounting. In addition to the basics, Infor SX offers integration of F9 reporting tools, which is an Excel like look and feel toolset for all financial statements. Also, this tool would assist in creating customer or product line profitability as it is not part of the standard GL structure.
Infor SX is setup specifically for the distributor; therefore, customer service offers everything a distributor could need, alternate warehouse, direct ship from suppliers, and substitutes. Lost sales are tracked by line with lost sale codes. A powerful tool that SX offers is a non-stock catalog, where items are not setup in base item master, but can be ordered from a separate non-stock catalog; and if required, converted to stock items.
Infor SX’s offers the best of both worlds for planning inventory. A separate advanced planning application can forecast and perform the DRP time phased requirement planning of purchases. Or the base system offers the traditional single point calculations e.g., EOQ, min/max, etc. When reviewing recommended purchases, the buyer can see if there is excess inventory at other locations and create a transfer (vs. buying new).
Infor is raising the bar in distribution ERP software selection, with its web-like look and feel, combined with strong distribution capabilities.
