Business Intelligence products have been around since the mid 1990’s. Over the years these products have matured and the industry has begun some consolidation.
There are a few Tier I ERP vendors such as Cognos (owned by IBM), and Business Objects (own by SAP). Microsoft has entered the market as well as Oracle.
A number of smaller companies have begun to get significant market share such as QlikView. Also a number of “open source” products are getting some market traction.
There are a number of Business Intelligence (BI) choices at several different price points.
